Previous Work – VW Late 1960’s

1966 VW Beetle – White – Running / Driving.

I bought this car as a shell only.
IRS pan with Thing spindles up front.
Drove the car around lowered for a couple years before lifting.
I was running a mild 1915cc with dual Weber 44’s

1966 VW Beetle – Bahama Blue – June 2009 – Running / Driving.

This car was damaged while sitting in the garage!
Looks better with bumpers.
It’s running 6-volt baby!
Ready to go down the road again.
The previous owner rear-ended the car into the front of the garage.
Interior was in good shape.
Whoops, broke the cap.
All straightened out.
Pretty much all original car.
Remember, it’s small but two don’t fit in the same spot.
It looks worse than it is.

And enough rust for everyone.
The car was near Chicago
I went with a tow bar, and came back via U-haul.
Original 1300cc engine.
The left rear bearing started to smoke after about 10 miles and I had to get a trailer for the rest of the journey.
And some kid thought it would be funny to flick a cigarette butt in the car at a light.
I put the top down to keep it from blowing away.
With all the leaves and crap in the car I was lucky to get the small fire out before the car went up.
I am just lucky I saw the kids flick the cigarette in the car at the light.
Camber compensator!
The car was sold to a guy in CA.
The car cleaned up good.
The top material was removed to show the true condition of the top.
Yeah, I had to keep the trip-meter speedometer.

This is how I bought the car.
The car didn’t have hardly any rust.
The car was real straight as well.
You could say it was a “basket case”
I didn’t get much for parts with this one.
