I am starting at the rear of vehicle with this project. The car was hit in the rear at some point, there is rust in the bumper brackets, and the lower nuts in the apron will need to be replaced. The rear apron had seen better days and the rear was in need of some straightening. There is a W-deck lid from another vehicle that will need some work, but is an original.

A 1970’s deck lid was used as a donor for the hinge panel needed to repair the W-deck lid.

The ends of the panel were re-shaped, trimmed, and fit to the earlier lid.

The rear bumper brackets were removed to expose the rust behind them, and the apron was removed.

The passenger side absorbed the impact and the quarter was pulled back during straightening to get the engine lip wrinkle to come out.

The panel was stripped to see what I am dealing with. All the little tabs that hold the tarboard and the large hole patch were made to replace the tech screws someone added at some point.

Everything was cleaned, sanded, and painted in the bay. The lip and corners of the panels are painted in weld-through primer for the new panels to be installed. All repair panels are painted on the interior surface before being installed, and holes punched/drilled for mounting.

The body lines are starting to match up with things.

The fenders are NOS Italian that fit great and only needed minor work to come back into shape. The bottom of the passenger is really close, and the drivers side is down a bit. Both will be shaped to match the apron once everything is lined up with the rear bumper in place.
